Writing Commissions 2020

Exploring Rural Realities

Last year the Book Festival invited four authors, Sarah Davy, Hilary Elder, Gwennie Fraser and Angela Readman, to create pieces of writing celebrating the diverse and fascinating county of Northumberland, its inhabitants, its agricultural Heritage and historical connections.

We would have been celebrating the completion of their work at the Book Festival this April, we hope to reschedule this event to the Autumn but, for now, you can read these wonderful pieces of work here - just click on the titles to download the story.

  • Sarah Davy: The Aftermath
  • Angela Readman: The Hobthrush
  • Gwennie Fraser: Passage of Light
  • Hilary Elder: Cambois
