This July authors from across the UK joined us in person in the fabulous Spiegeltent next to Hexham Abbey to share Hexham Book Festival's first celebration of books since 2019. From food to fiction, politics to poetry there were events for all tastes and it was a delight to welcome writers, thinkers and audiences back for an especially thrilling return to 'normaility'.

Thanks to the very generous support of the Gillian Dickinson Trust and Arts Council England, we were also able to present our first ever Children's Book Festival.

With sell-out comedy, circus performances and live theatre alongside appearances from best-selling authors including Sue Hendra (Super Tato), Jonny Duddle (Gigantosaurus) and Jim Smith (Barry Loser), and surprise visits from well-loved characters including Lucy Cousins' Maisy and Judith Kerr's Tiger - we had a fabulous week of entertaining, engaging and inspiring events.

We welcomed hundreds of school children and families into some very special venues - the Speigeltent, Bell Tent and Woodman's Awning making their experiences with us even more magical. It was wonderful to see so many happy smiling faces!
