It’s Got Legs Outreach project

This summer we collaborated with Northumberland National Park and invited local school children to become nature detectives for the day.

Pupils in Years 3 and 4 from Acomb First School, Haltwhistle Academy and St Mary’s First School in Hexham travelled to Walltown to pond dip and spot rare and wild plants alongside national park rangers. Our Youth Engagement Manager then returned to the schools to help pupils create illustrations and poetry inspired by the visit.

You can now see a selection of these responses at The Sill on Hadrian’s wall. The work will be displayed in the foyer for the whole summer holidays. We hope they’ll inspire you to look out for the little things as you explore this summer!

A huge thanks to Arts Council England & Northumberland County Council for their support which makes our outreach programme possible. We’ve much more planned after the summer break!
