We’re very sorry, but due to a scheduling clash outside of our control, Pam Ayres’ event will now take place on Friday 9 May at 2.30pm instead of Thursday 8 May at 2.30pm. Current ticket holders don’t need to do anything – your ticket is automatically transferred to the new date. The Box Office will be in touch with more details and options should you no longer be able to attend.
Pam Ayres has been making the nation laugh for half a century. After Ted Hughes, she is the UK’s best-selling poet since records began and has been heard and loved by generations across the country. In a special matinee event, Hexham Book Festival welcomes Pam to talk about her new book, Doggedly Onward: A Life In Poems, which brings together some of her most-loved and best-known poems from the 1970s through to the 2020s. Included are the cavalcade of much-loved dogs, her lifelong fascination with wildlife, the travel, mistakes, regrets, the heartbreak of leaving the family home, and the sober business of ageing.
Tickets £12/£10
“Who doesn’t feel warm, sentimental, and downright good when they think of Pam Ayres? She’s a timeless talent and a glorious people’s poet.” – Glastonbury Festival
