Helen Gordon – The Meteorites

From your window you can see the stars and distant planets: light years away, it’s easy to think that our existences and theirs will never intersect. Yet meteorites – mysterious, irregular rocks of sometimes immense value – connect us with the vastness of the universe. Writer and natural historian Helen Gordon presents an illustrated talk about the wonder of meteorites, including those that have fallen to Earth and the lives they have touched – from collectors to kings, scientists to farmers. Blending science, natural history and character sketches, The Meteorites is a fascinating exploration of these extraordinary objects.
