About Hexham Book Festival

Hexham Book Festival is a Not For Profit CIC and delivers an annual festival that takes place in and around Hexham in April/May each year. It has grown significantly since its first Festival in 2006 into an important part of the regional arts calendar. Led by Susie Troup and Gil Pugh the festival works closely with volunteers and freelance specialists to deliver a dynamic and varied Festival.

In 2019 we have welcomed Sharon West as Children's Festival programmer to our team, Sharon is heading up our brand new Gillian Dickinson Children's Festival which will be here for one week of the Festival in a Spiegeltent on the Abbey Grounds

In the last six years the company has managed an extended year-round programme of work supported by Northumberland County Council working with libraries, schools and other organisations across the county.  See our Outreach Programme for more information.

The Festival is supported by numerous local businesses and private sponsors with outreach projects benefiting from support from Trusts and Foundations (see our thanks page).

Everyone Welcome: Queen’s Hall welcomes visitors with disabilities and aims to ensure that your visit is safe and enjoyable.  If you require help, please contact Queen’s Hall in advance.  Companions of wheelchair users may attend events free of charge.  Guide dogs are welcome in all areas of the building.
