Under the Data Protection Act, we have a legal duty to protect any personal information we collect from you. From 25 May 2018, the new GDPR legislation superseded the Data Protection Act and gives you, the consumer, more rights.

Any personal information given to us is private and confidential. Your data is stored in a secure location, is accessible only by designated staff, and is used only for the purposes for which you provide that information.

We will not sell or pass on your information to any third parties under any circumstances.

If you are under 16, always check with a parent or guardian before giving personal information to anyone online.

You give us your personal information when:

  • Joining our mailing list(s)
  • Becoming a Friend of Hexham Book Festival
  • Making a donation to Hexham Book Festival
  • Booking a place on our workshops, short courses, or events. Booking is made through Eventbrite or Ticketsource, which handles your data but does not retain it.
  • Applying for a job with us

In addition, we use Google Analytics to aggregate information anonymously to provide statistics to evaluate our work and to feedback to our funders/ supporters about our performance.

Deletion and correction:

We will retain the data you have provided to us securely and responsibly for as long as we are legally required to.

If you have subscribed to our mailing list, you can unsubscribe at any time by following the link at the bottom of every email. This will automatically remove you from the email database.

You can ask for your postal address to be removed by emailing [email protected] and we will delete it within 3 working days, and let you know it has been removed.

If you would like to request a correction, please contact info@hexhambookfestival.co.uk and we will amend it within 3 working days, and let you know it has been corrected.
