Rafael Behr – Politics: A Survivor’s Guide

In an age of fury and confusion, when a new crisis – Brexit, pandemic, war in the Ukraine, energy shortages – erupts even before the last one has finished it is tempting to switch off the news, tune out and hope things will get back to normal soon. Except, this is the new normal, and our democracy can only work if enough people stay engaged without getting enraged. But how? Drawing on insights accrued during three decades as a political commentator and foreign correspondent Rafael Behr provides an answer.

Chosen as a 2023 Non-Fiction highlight in the GuardianNew Statesman and Irish Times.

Chaired by Gerry Foley.
