From Book To Film - a workshop for adults This year we are partnering with The Open College of the Arts (OCA) to offer workshops for both young people and adults. A large part of films and television productions are adaptations from another source. Taking a ready-made story and re-shaping it for a visual medium requires creative and technical changes. In this workshop, we will look at the challenges of turning a short story, a novel, even a poem into a story that will work on screen. The workshop will provide examples of adaptations as well as invite the participants to try their hand at adapting a literary text into script through practical exercises. Inga Pelosi Leighton’s first monologues and plays were shown at the Edinburgh Fringe and London’s West End. She founded her own UK-based film-making company, Storm and Light Pictures, writing and producing award-winning short films such as Poor Unfortunate Souls (UKFF, Trani FF, Cinestesia FF official selection); The Starmaker (Speechless FF and European FF official selection) and The Other Truth (Shorts on Tap and Catharsis FF official selection). She is a creative consultant to Michael Radford, writer and director of Il Postino and 1984.
