What do we mean by ‘character’ in fiction? When we read, do we want to know as much as possible about the main characters? In portrait paintings, do you prefer forensic details or suggestive, broad brushstrokes? When we write, do we prefer to create mini biographies before we start or have a vague outline of a personage and find out who they are in the telling of their story? Come along and enjoy exercises to explore this essential aspect of writing fiction.
