Fresh Voices for Hexham Book Festival 2022

Join us to hear work specially commissioned by Hexham Book Festival and reflecting and celebrating the diverse and fascinating county of Northumberland, its inhabitants, its agricultural Heritage and historical connections with particular emphasis on Hadrian’s Wall and its upcoming celebration of 1900 years. 

Join Bridget Hamilton, Garry Lyons, Jacqueline Saville and Deborah Snell who will share their brand new work with us.

Bridget Hamilton is a writer, facilitator and creative producer who has worked with organisations such as New Writing North, Sage Gateshead and BBC Radio Three. She works predominantly with young people but has also recently been involved in writing projects with adults in recovery.

Garry Lyons has written plays for the National Theatre and theatres throughout the UK.  His television work includes the award-winning Leah's Trials for Channel 4 and ITV's The Worst Witch.    

Jacqueline Saville is a Yorkshire writer of stories of various lengths and genres. Her short fiction has been published in more than forty places in print and online. She tweets @JYSaville.

Deborah Snell is an artist and illustrator based in Newcastle working in illustration, printmaking, installations, model making and animation.

  • Priority Booking for Festival Friends opens at 08.00 on Tuesday 19th April. Tickets go on general sale from Thursday 21st April. 
  • Please note that a handling charge of 50p per ticket applies to bookings made in person or over the phone. No handling charges apply to online bookings.
  • Hearing loops are available.  Carers qualify for free ‘essential companion’ tickets. Wheelchair spaces are limited. In all cases, please call the Box Office on 01434 652477 to book (booking fees will not apply).
