Lucy is well known as columnist , author, features writer and TV critic. In 2009, a collection of her columns from the Guardian was published as a book entitled MY FAMILY AND OTHER DISASTERS. As a girl stories were everything, they opened up different worlds and cast new light on this one, whisked away to Narnia , Kirrin Island – and Wonderland, venturing down rabbit holes and womble burrows into midnight gardens and chocolate factories. No wonder Lucy only left the house for her weekly trip to the library. In Bookworm, she brings the favourite characters of our collective childhoods back to life and disinters a few forgotten treasures poignantly, wittily using them to tell her own story, that of a born, and unrepentant, bookworm. This is a personal history and celebration of children’s literature and a must for all book lovers.
